Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. If only we understood that in our hearts! He desires nothing more than to walk beside us to give us guidance, strength, encouragement, and hope. He shared in our human condition - he suffered and struggled. Because of this, he is able to empathize with our weakness and pain. We are never alone; we always have a friend in high places.

Unlike the people in Mark's Gospel, the demons knew exactly who Jesus was - the Holy One of God - and they were afraid. Jesus came into the world to reconquer it for God - to bring everything under God's rule and control. His words were powerful, filled with authority, and were filled with the power of the Son of God. What does that mean for us? Jesus has also conquered the darkness that is in each one of us. We should not feel helpless or like prisoners. When we call on Jesus for deliverance, he answers and becomes the Lord of our lives.

Lord, be the master of my life.
